What does the production and testing of a home delivery machine look like?

Every production run begins with thorough testing. We assemble a small batch of parcel lockers to test their quality and durability. Once the tests have been successfully completed, we begin mass production of the parcel lockers and then proceed with their installation.

We’ve got the parcel locker bodies—let’s start painting and assembling them for testing!

The inner components of the first parcel lockers have arrived at the factory! From here, they will undergo painting, assembly, and testing. As we mentioned in a previous blog post – the functionality of the parcel locker has also changed based on our pilot project and customer feedback:

• Larger “L” compartment:We moved the PIN pad to the lid of the “XS” compartment, thereby enlarging the “L” compartment.
• Adjustable foot: The parcel locker comes with an adjustable foot, allowing it to be installed on sloped surfaces. 
• Convenience and safety: The lids of the “L” and “M” compartments on the parcel locker are held open by magnets, allowing the compartments to be used without the user having to hold the lid open. 
• Moisture and dust resistance: We installed additional seals on the parcel locker to prevent moisture and dust from entering the compartments.

Testing the durability of the lid of a personal parcel locker

We test the durability of the parcel locker lid based on opening and closing cycles. We conduct a total of 1,000 opening and closing cycles, which is equivalent to approximately five years of use. We also perform similar tests on the lids of the internal compartments.

But how does the home delivery machine hold up against humidity? 

Resistance to moisture and other forms of precipitation is very important in Estonia’s climate. Testing this basically involves taking a classic shower. Since our bathrooms were a bit too small, we did this outside—and of course, we tested it from various angles, because rain never falls just “straight down” from the sky. The result of the test—the parcel locker isn’t afraid of moisture! 

And what next?

At the same time, we are delivering the software and electronics for the parcel locker, and once all tests have been successfully completed, we will assemble everything and bring the production line fully online. Just a little more patience, and soon all subscribers will be able to start using their own parcel lockers! ✌️
